The History of Canada Podcast covers Canadian history from first the first migration along the Bering straight to the geopolitical landscape of the present day. While inevitably I cannot describe every skirmish, transaction, and written record of the Canadian peoples, I do plan to detail every major period, covering its influential figures, but also examining the lives of average Canadians during that time. The story of Canada tells of complex heroes and their struggle for success. It tells of a struggle for dominance, a struggle for culture, a struggle for survival. Forged by the warring might of the world's largest empires, success came often from the hands of subjugation. With great triumph came great suffering. From Cartier's first encounters with the so-called savages to Macdonald's headstrong quest to build a nation-wide railroad, Canada's past abounds with intriguing characters and events. And this podcast explores how our past continues to define the Canada we know today.
